Revelation 6 has four riders, but, the Catholic and Evangelical exegesis disagree about the first one. The other three are certainly evil entities.
To us Catholics, the rider on the white horse is Christ.
"he went forth conquering that he might conquer"
The first seal corresponds to Christ's initial offer to the nations. Through His Church He goes forth "conquering that he might conquer" - as foreseen and indeed promised in Matthew 28:16-20, the "all nations" part.
But another thing is, Putin has been on the scene pretty long, and initially he was a kind of peacebroker with the West.

I think Lenin was both more evil than Hitler and remained for a shorter while. Persecution of Christians and frontal attack on all traditional institutions is more evil than persecuting only Jews and Gipsies and Handicapped. 6 years from late 1917 to early 1924 is shorter than 12 years from 1933 to 1945.
Then the next verse : And the beast which was, and is not: the same also is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into destruction.
One option is of course : it is neither a new Hitler nor a new Lenin, but for instance a new Domitian or Antiochus or even (Rob Skiba II) a new Nimrod.
But when it comes to the option it's a "new version of the seventh" I think a new Lenin is worth to look out more against than a new Hitler.

A few years ago, Putin had a more credible rival in the conservative field, namely Lech Kaczyński. He died in a plane crash. Zia ul Haqq also died in a plane crash - commonly in the West attributed to KGB (where a certain Putin once made a career).
And don't forget, in the latest US election, Putin expressed disappointment with Trump and a welcome for Biden (referring to the fact he was for 15 years of his life a member of the Communist party).
I think the liberal globalism will fail, and the globalism that has sufficient success to dominate the world is the "conservative" one ... and I say that as a conservative. Or if you prefer, reactionary.

- where their Lord also was crucified. - leaves no doubt.
So, arguably, Antichrist will work hand in hand with Zionism as it will be when he is there.

So, this part of the II Thess. limit is certainly already fulfilled, Antichrist can already be revealed from that one.
And the closest immediate reveal is my candidate for the "seventh king" of the long term Satanic king list. Lenin.

Nah ... the one holding back could be inherently able to lose Christ's support, but even so using it de facto to hold Antichrist back up to when he's taken out of the way.
When Austria posed an Ultimatum to Serbia, and Russia posed one to Austria, over the investigation on catching Gavril Princip, both of them were (at least in a sense, for the Czar) Christian rulers. Both of them had praying for them and for their cause, priests, who made Christ present on the Altars. While Orthodox are Schismatics, they do have valid sacrements, some of them.
But they made war on each other. Christ defended neither against earthly defeat, and neither could, without Christ, without their previous power base, keep Lenin from taking power in Russia.

I know this is the standard interpretation. But there is also the 7 Day Adv one, stating US is the second beast (also features first beast as False Prophet).
Now, whether the second beast (from the land) is the False Prophet (Ratzinger is from Bavaria, inland, more precisely Marktl in Upper Bavaria) or the US (Biden is from Scranton, Delaware, also inland) ... it fits.
And if the False Prophet is not the second beast, who is he? Well, one option is he appears in Apoc. 13 as "the dragon" ...
