8:54 Death of Megafauna
"12 800 years ago and a slot of 1000 or 1200 years after that."
10 800 BC to 9 800 / 9 600 BC.
10 800 BC
- 2666 B. Chr.
- 0.354608 pmC/100, so dated as 11 216 B. Chr.*
- 2644 B. Chr.
- 0.380408 pmC/100, so dated as 10 644 B. Chr.
(2666 + 2644) / 2 = 2655
(0.354608 + 0.380408) / 2 = 0.367508 pmC/100 = 36.7508 pmC => 8300
8300 + 2655 = 10955 nope
(2666 + 2644 + 2644) / 3 = 2651
(0.354608 + 0.380408 + 0.380408) / 3 = 0.371808 pmC/100 = 37.1808 pmC => 8200
8200 + 2651 = 10 851 BC, nearly good enough
9 800 / 9 600 BC
The latter is well known, beginning of Babel, or perhaps a bit earlier
- 2621 B. Chr.
- 0.406138 pmC/100, so dated as 10 071 B. Chr.
- 2607 B. Chr.
- 0.428224 pmC/100, so dated as 9607 B. Chr.
(2621 + 2607) / 2 = 2614
(0.406138 + 0.428224) / 2 = 0.417181 pmC/100 = 41.7181 pmC => 7250
7250 + 2614 = 9864 BC, nearly good enough ...
Can we improve?
(2666 + 2666 + 2644 + 2644 + 2644 + 2644 + 2644 + 2644) / 8 = 2649.5
(0.354608 + 0.354608 + 0.380408 + 0.380408 + 0.380408 + 0.380408 + 0.380408 + 0.380408) / 8 = 0.373958 pmC/100 = 37.3958 pmC => 8150
8150 + 2650 = 10800 BC precisely
(2621 + 2621 + 2607 + 2607 + 2607) / 5 = 2612.6
(0.406138 + 0.406138 + 0.428224 + 0.428224 + 0.428224) / 5 = 0.4193896 pmC/100 = 41.93896 pmC => 7200
7200 + 2613 = 9813 BC, definitely good enough
So, according to my calibration, the megafauna should be killed off between 2650 and 2613, during a span of 37 years.
Did the Younger Dryas weaken them? Possibly. But was there a hunter during this time? Definitely. See Genesis 10:
8 Now Chus begot Nemrod: he began to be mighty on the earth. 9 And he was a stout hunter before the Lord. Hence came a proverb: Even as Nemrod the stout hunter before the Lord. 10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babylon, and Arach, and Achad, and Chalanne in the land of Sennaar.
