False Teaching on "How Jesus Handled Narcissists"

If Jesus Handled Narcissists Like This, So Should You
C.S Lewis Sermons | 10 Jan. 2025

Matthew 23, not a narcissistic person, but a narcissistic group.
Luke 5, no obvious narcissist either group or individual.
John 6, whether narcissist or not, it was a group.
Luke 17, Jesus gives a rule that narcissistic individuals can abuse.
John 2, Jesus acts by omniscience.
Mark 12, they are a group. Jesus deals by giving argument.

"Jesus didn't carry the burden of 22:11 seeking personal Vengeance or proving himself to those who opposed him instead 22:18 he surrendered every conflict and every adversary into the capable hands of His 22:24 Father"

Jesus already had a living as a teacher. He didn't need revenge as defense in order to start making a living from his work.

With Pilate, Jesus confronted narcissistic state power, a k a totalitarianism. Most day to day situations aren't directly doing that.

Matthew 5:44, Jesus is here saying how to deal with ordinary persecution. He does not say this applies every metre of the way, and St. Paul sometimes deviated from this in Acts 23. And He does not say this will work in the face of people who do what St. Paul describes:

Now the Spirit manifestly saith, that in the last times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to spirits of error, and doctrines of devils 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy, and having their conscience seared 3 Forbidding to marry, to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving by the faithful, and by them that have known the truth
[1 Timothy 4:1-3]

I e, stop you both from anything that might lead you into a family situation and also, at the same time, from mitigating the waiting period by ascetism.

I have not tackled the other Bible quotes, because I'm answering the title, it's about how Jesus handled narcissists, but apparently He didn't handle all that many individuals who were individually narcissists, and definitely, when it came to networks, He had His own to fall back on.

He Admires St. Joan, But Doesn't Understand Her Case

7:56 The English may have at this point been on the verge of corrupting Catholicism.

Not doctrinally in sacramentology or so, Lollards weren't necessarily that highranking. But more in the realm of charity.

St. Joan was burned, with a local bishop as judge, according to a law from 1401, targetting primarily Lollards. The last application of it was not Mary Tudor burning Cranmer and a few more, it was James I of England burning two anabaptists in 1612.

Now, the point is, Lollards were very unpopular. And part of the popularity was an allergia they had against pageantry, but another part was their aversion against England's wars of expansion, at the cost of Scotland, Wales, Ireland ... and, obviously, France.

They had said (and it was condemned as heresy) "it is illicit for Christians to start a war except on divine revelation" (meaning post-Biblical, private revelation).
St. Joan went to war, on a private revelation, and her judge considered this claim was heretical (and basically fell under that heresy of the Lollards).

The Lollards and Deformers that were burned by Catholic rulers pretty well match up with the number of Catholic martyrs killed by Schismatic or Heretic rulers. 282 and 283, I think.

On some level, I think Lollards had a point about charity, against wars of expansion, and while burning them for heresy bore some justice in it, it wasn't all that just, not comparable to burning an Albigensian after giving him months of intellectual sparring with a Dominican who converted most. St. Joan made it so that England couldn't spread this attitude into France.

The US in part has origins from England, but also in part from the enemies of the then English kings. George Washington had, I think, both Welsh and French ancestors.

15:00 Rheims the birthplace of Christendom?

What about Pons Milvius or Milan (312, 313)?

16:45 It took c. 500 years to canonise her, in Rome, because of the consideration for English Catholics.

In Shakespear, she is described in ways harkening back to Cauchon, the bishop of Beauvais.

By 1920, it was apparent that English Catholics shared the love for her that Irish and French Catholics already held. Pius XI [Benedict XV] offended no sensibility of any pious ear when pronouncing the canonisation.

17:47 You are part of the English world?

No ancestry anywhere from the Lousiana Purchase?

Or from Scotland, Wales, Ireland?

Washington, English and French. Adams, English and Welsh. Jefferson, English, Scottish, Welsh. Madison, English and Welsh. Monroe, English, Scottish, Welsh. Quincy Adams, English and Welsh. Jackson, English, Scottish, Ulster Scots. van Buren, Dutch. And still no pure Englishman. Harrisson, English, Ulster Scots, Welsh. Tyler, English and French. Polk, Scottish and Ulster Scots. Second not at all English and still no pure English. Zachary Taylor, the FIRST purely English president of your country. More than seventy years after the nation was founded.

I think St. Joan may have some grudge for you not even loving your own nation, as I take you to be American.

Right of Conquest is a wrong, if there is no good case for the war of conquest. St. Augustine condemns the idea of Rome, insofar as it was a case of expansionism and seeking excuses for conquests that weren't really due. Plus, obviously it's a game two can play, as St. Joan showed. Dynastic reason, well, there was this thing called the Salian law. Perhaps a subterfuge? Perhaps true (at least shown in consistent precedent). But conquering a people for dynastic reasons hadn't turned out too well for the original people in 1066, and God wasn't having that happening to France or the French. The wellbeing of a people is above its constitution. The pragmatic case for the English kings is basically the same as for Prussia, against Austria.

Maybe a certain Blessed Andreas Faulhaber isn't your biggest subscriber either (he was killed for a confession, and he was Silesian most of his life on the Austrian side, killed on the personal orders of Frederick II because he had dared to prefer the secret of confession to the good army discipline of Prussia). Last Catholic priest martyred in Europe by non-Revolutionaries, after the English martyrs. You might want to reconsider some of your historic loyalties.

I'm obviously biassed as a Swede, we have been longstanding allies to Scotland and France. And I also visited the US before the UK, I have my English and Christianity from the US visit, when my mother took sole effective custody of me. Sue me.

David Wood's Top Argument Debunked (Islamic Dilemma)
Farid Responds | 21 Dec. 2023

1:39 Really good at preserving classical opinions and conflicting opinions ... among themselves.

In their bubble. Prior to WW-I, the Muslim world was very isolated from the Christian world in different ways, remained so in Algeria even after it was taken in 1830, thank God for Charles X, but the Algerian Muslims could pretty well self-isolate from the government and European settlers on finer matters, like religion.

As to Christians within Muslim countries, Muslims have a very good talent to listen to Christians in actual or perceived inferior positions with "half an ear" ...

A Christian in AD 1700 Bulgaria said what David Wood said:

* scenario A, he was killed for supposed blasphemy * scenario B, he was forgiven

EITHER WAY, what he said was forgotten.

3:24 You don't know how it works?

For one thing, it directly states that it is in the Gospel, for another, it doesn't say, nor does any other verse of the Quran say, that the Christians forged the text of their Gospels.

Muxeno
@muxeng977
We believe in an uncorrupt Torah and gospel that was corrupted

These verses aren't found in the Torah and the gospel of today according to Farid ( although there are instances where they can be found, maybe he just agrees with David to be convenient ), therefore, the Torah and gospel of today are corrupted.

Aqeel | عقيل
@aqeel2859
Btw Gospel refers to the Good news revealed to Jesus. Not your autobiographies (by unknown authors) of Jesus' life

Hans-Georg Lundahl
@hglundahl
@aqeel2859 Revealed TO or BY Jesus, that's a difference in theology.

Let's stick with a more basic thing.

The Gospel of St. Matthew is over 56 % words by Jesus. The biographic parts that make them understandable are considerably less, it's usually the occasion of the miracle or the words by a Pharisee needing a rebuttal, or once the occasion of a sermon, so "biography" is only a small part of the Gospels.

They really are The Good News and by the way, it's revealed BY Jesus.

4:57 "the Quran corrects this blasphemy, hence the Torah is not preserved"

Or the Torah is precisely preserved, and corrects the Quran.

5:22 You will find Muslims a good echo chamber.

They will take any verse of the Quran as truth. They will treat any verse that contradicts the Quran in Torah or Gospel as proof Torah or Gospel is not preserved.

B U T ... as soon as they see proof positive proof that the Quran gives clear hints Mohammed thought the Torah and Gospel were preserved, despite later scholars, they will forget this.

So, here we have two verses, 44 and 47 from Al-Ma'idah:

Indeed, We revealed the Torah, containing guidance and light, by which the prophets, who submitted themselves to Allah, made judgments for Jews. So too did the rabbis and scholars judge according to Allah’s Book, with which they were entrusted and of which they were made keepers. So do not fear the people; fear Me! Nor trade my revelations for a fleeting gain. And those who do not judge by what Allah has revealed are ˹truly˺ the disbelievers.
So let the people of the Gospel judge by what Allah has revealed in it. And those who do not judge by what Allah has revealed are ˹truly˺ the rebellious.

Funny you did not take these two as the examples David Wood most typically uses for his argument.

"correcting statements found in the Bible"

However, David's main point on this would be, they never claim to do that, they claim to be, if anything, incompetent misreadings of an actually good text.

Vedic Dharma Exposed 🕉™
@ExposingHindutva101
Indeed Allah swt revealed the Towrah & the Gospel to the respective Prophets ( pbuh) not the self evident corrupted dead sea scrolls neither the Gospels according to Matthew, Mark, luke & John...

Aal-e-Imran 3:3
He has sent down upon you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming what was before it. And He revealed the Torah and the Gospel

Aal-e-Imran 3:4
Before, as guidance for the people. And He revealed the Criterion [i.e., the Quran]. Indeed, those who disbelieve in the verses of Allah will have a severe punishment, and Allah is Exalted in Might, the Owner of Retribution.

Al-Baqarah 2:79

So woe to those who write the "scripture" with their own hands, then say, "This is from Allah," in order to exchange it for a small price. Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn.

Hans-Georg Lundahl
Al-Baqarah 2:79 is from the Medina period.

It also does not say that the ones referred to are Jews and Christians.

It is a word that we could very clearly agree with, and consider Mohammed and Joseph Smith were guilty of.

It seems Mohammed couldn't make up his mind and wanted to be ambiguous.

5:42 There are also no verses in the Quran making direct claims the Injeel was corrupted as a text or the Taurat was corrupted as a text.

Muslim scholars who claim Jews and ourselves corrupted the text actually came a century or two after Mohammed. Not with support in the Quran text itself ... beyond your claim the Quran "corrects" namely the actual text. Which was probably the claim of such scholars back then too.

Hans-Georg Lundahl
@JustAnArab1 I don't know Arabic, so this is from Saheeh International:

So for their breaking of the covenant We cursed them and made their hearts hard. They distort words from their [proper] usages and have forgotten a portion of that of which they were reminded. And you will still observe deceit among them, except a few of them. But pardon them and overlook [their misdeeds]. Indeed, Allah loves the doers of good.
And from those who say, "We are Christians" We took their covenant; but they forgot a portion of that of which they were reminded. So We caused among them animosity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection. And Allah is going to inform them about what they used to do.
O People of the Scripture, there has come to you Our Messenger making clear to you much of what you used to conceal of the Scripture and overlooking much. There has come to you from Allah a light and a clear Book.

Surah 5, al Maidah, no mention of Tawra or Injeel being textually corrupted, just of Jews and Christians not following them.

Now to Surah 2 and 3

2 Al-Baqarah 79:
So woe to those who write the "scripture" with their own hands, then say, "This is from Allah," in order to exchange it for a small price. Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn.

Doesn't explicitly state that this is about Jews (or Christians), unless this custom was totally unheard of among Muslims. It targets private copying of Scripture, not falsification. In the Ummah, as you know, copying is usually done in large schools of copyists.

3 Al-Imran 78:
And indeed, there is among them a party who alter the Scripture with their tongues so you may think it is from the Scripture, but it is not from the Scripture. And they say, "This is from Allah," but it is not from Allah. And they speak untruth about Allah while they know.

As it is about "with their tongues" it is about misquoting. Also, it says "there is among them a party who" meaning Mohammed is not accusing the entire Jewish or Christian Ummah.

Also no claim in the Quran that the actual standard texts had been corrupted.

6:21 That verse is no problem for either David Wood or me.

We don't need to agree that the Bible writes of Mohammed (except in contexts about false prophets).

Hence, we are not contradicting ourselves in not becoming Muslims.

We are saying this verse contradicts your contention that the Bible was corrupted.

I'll give an example from your scholarship. Jesus promised the Parakletos. Your scholarship says Periklytos translates as Mohammed (it does, and so does Lewis / Chlodevech, a king who came to Rheims centuries before Mohammed). So, your scholars have pretended we misplaced the vowels. From the perspective of people mainly familiar with Arabic language and Arabic alphabet, this makes perfect sense. Even more with a Byzantine pronunciation of Greek : very little difference between eta and upsilon, while Mohammed lived or his successors commented.

However, Parakletos and Periklytos are two different words. Para and peri are two different prepositions. kalein and kleuo are two different verbs. The compounds are very different in overall meaning, attorney vs famous (which by the way is the meaning of Clovis as well as of Mohammed, as mentioned). So, the argument of wrong interpretation or an innocent forgery by incompetence is replaced by deliberate forgery.

Thesius
@Thesius-q3o
The Qur’an affirms SELECTIVELY, therefore no dilemma, let me explain:

We don’t believe that the Torah and Gospel are corrupt at all.

We Muslims believe that the Gospel and Torah are PARTS of what christians and jews CONSIDER “Torah” and “Gospel”.

We believe that they (Torah and Gospel) are EASILY accessible in what christians and jews PERCIEVE as “torah” or “gospel” through rigorous historical criteria.

A good analogy would be that Muslims believe in the noble hadith YET they critically examine it with rigorous historical criteria, and grade it weak and strong.

Christians and jews are expected to do this too, examine their books and determine what is reliable from what is not. What they will find is the “Torah” and the “Gospel”.

The Qur’an EXPECTS this to lead to conclusions that align with Islam.

Objection: But why does the Qur’an never say that we have to apply rigorous historical criteria to the previous scriptures?

This does not have to be said. It is obvious because the scriptures of jews and christians at the time contradicted each other.

Therefore the Qur’an HAS to affirm SELECTIVELY, not ALL of their scriptures.

For example, different gospels adopted by different chrisitan groups like that of Mary, Thomas, Judas and the list goes on. Not to mention the variation in manuscripts for EACH gospel.

For jews, that would be the masoretic and septuigant vs. The samaritan.

Also, the Torah in Madinah was different from the Torah elsewhere:

The Jews brought [to the Prophet peace be upon him] a man and a woman among them who committed adultery. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Bring the two most knowledgeable men from among you." The Jews brought the two sons of Suriyya, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked them, "What punishment do you find in the Torah regarding these two?" They said, "In the Torah, we find that if four men testify that they saw his male organ in her womb, similar to when the eyeliner is inserted inside the eyeliner container; in this case they are stoned." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "What made you stop stoning?" They said, "Our kingship (meaning Jewish) was taken from us, and we hated killing." The Messenger of Allah asked for four witnesses, and they brought four men who testified that they saw his penis in her womb like the eyeliner is inserted in the eyeliner container. The Messenger of Allah ordered that the two [adulterers] be stoned. (Sunan Abu Dawud, Hadith no. 3862, Source. Sheikh Albani declared this hadith authentic in Sunan Abu Dawud, hadith no. 4452)

Sa'eed ibn Al-Museeb narrated that a Muslim and a Jew had a dispute, so they went to Umar bin Al-Khattab to judge the dispute between them. Umar bin Al-khattab ruled in favor for the Jew, which upon the Jew said: "I swear by Allah, you have judged with the Truth". Umar bin Al-Khattab hit the man with a stick that had a small ball on the top of it when he heard him saying that. Then Umar bin Al-Khattab asked the Jew, "How do you know that I judged with the truth?" The Jew replied, "We find in the Torah that whoever judges according to the truth, two angels from his right and left sides assist him to find the truth. Yet, if he went astray from the truth, they will leave him. (Al-Munzhiri declared this narration to be authentic in Al-Targheeb Wal-Tarheeb, Volume 3, p. 188)

The Qur'an can NOT affirm ALL of those, but it can affirm PARTS of those.

In summary:

1. The Qur’an affirms selectively because different christians and jews have different scriptures.

2. It affirms the Torah and Gospel WITHIN the christian and jewish scriptures.

3. Christians and jews should strive to critically examine their scriptures where the Qur’an EXPECTS the conclusions (Torah and Gospel) to align with the Qur’an.

Small obejection that may arise:

“The Qur’an does not mean gnostic gospels when it says Injeel”

Response:
Evidence?
The Qur’an even USES some stories from those gospels, this objection is dismissed, because it is unbacked with evidence.

The Qur’an DEFINITELY considers them christians because it uses stories that they ALONE believe.

This is the refutation, please use it when confronted with this supposed “dilemma”.

Hans-Georg Lundahl
@hglundahl
@Thesius-q3o "We believe that they (Torah and Gospel) are EASILY accessible in what christians and jews PERCIEVE as “torah” or “gospel” through rigorous historical criteria."

Well, no.

You don't believe anything is easily accessible within a larger corpus to anyone who takes the larger corpus as the thing.

Sorry.

It's like saying Shakespeare wrote exactly one play, and then saying that play is "easily" accessible in the collected plays of Shakespear.

And no, your criteria or not rigorously historic, they are rigorously Islamic.

@Thesius-q3o "Christians and jews are expected to do this too, examine their books and determine what is reliable from what is not."

We have not at all been instructed to do so.

"This is the refutation, please use it when confronted with this supposed “dilemma”."

What do you mean "use it"? I'm not a Muslim in the first place!

@Thesius-q3o "The Qur’an even USES some stories from those gospels, this objection is dismissed, because it is unbacked with evidence. "

Not our problem that the Quran is confused about Christians.

"For example, different gospels adopted by different chrisitan groups like that of Mary, Thomas, Judas and the list goes on. Not to mention the variation in manuscripts for EACH gospel."

All actual Christian groups accepted Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Gospel manuscripts do not amount to important contradictions.

"For jews, that would be the masoretic and septuigant vs. The samaritan."

Jews and Samaritans are two different groups of non-Christian believers in the Torah. The Masoretic didn't exist in Mohammed's time, you could speak of a proto-Masoretic.

Now, the Septuagint is only used by Christians.

Also not our problem that your Quran is confused about what group uses what Scripture.

And as to the stories, I'd say Muhammed had a talent as bully which makes him very suspect as a "judge" and dito for the supposed different Madinah "Torah" ...

Thesius
@hglundahl
1. Gnostic christians don't believe in mathew, mark, luke and john.

2. The Torah in Madinah was different.
Also, are you trolling??
Samaritans considered themselves jews.

Hans-Georg Lundahl
@ [Thesius] 1) Gnostic "Christians" ceased to exist before Muhammad's time. They may have been recently resurrected, they may have been very marginally present residually in Arabia (though it's improbable), but the main Christian presence in Arabia were the Copts, like in Ethiopia, and they believed the Four Canonic Gospels.

2) Apparently you believe judgements by Muhammed, I don't.

3) Samaritans still exist, they consider themselves Israelites, but not Jews. They descend from Ephraim, not from Judah. I am not trolling you.

Sorry that you have been confused by the statement "al Tawrah is the holy book of the Jews" in fact the Five books of Moses are:

a) the holy book of Jews along with many other books
b) the holy book of Samaritans, without those other books or most of them
c) and foremost the holy book of Christians, along with other books and with the New Testament.

Thesius
@hglundahl Bro, jews are the descendants of Isaac, Islamically, they are considered jews.

Gnostic christians existed in the 7th century, the religion did not die out, lol.

Yes, they existed in small groups but they definitely existed.

My argument stands.

Hans-Georg Lundahl
@Thesius-q3o 3) "Islamically, they are considered jews."

Irrelevant. They don't consider themselves Jews. And they aren't.

Jews descend from Isaac, Jacob and Jacob's son Judah. Samaritans from Isaac, Jacob, and Jacob's grandson and adopted son Ephraim.

Christian Palestinians descend from both, since Christianity reunited them.

1) Gnostics existing in small groups, even if true, is not what Muhammed or the Quran talked about. O B V I O U S L Y they refer to the big groups of Christians there are and in Arabia the probably biggest were the Copts in the South.

Thesius
@hglundahl No. It is not obvious. Because the Qur'an STATES STORIES that they
A L O N E believe.

Hans-Georg Lundahl
@ [Thesius] Like what?
a) A Gnostic view of the Crucifixion is anyway according to Muhammed's view, he could have invented it himself;
b) stories from Childhood Gospel of Thomas are not believed exclusively by Gnostics, some Catholics in the Middle Ages liked them, so the presence of that is no criterium.

Thesius
@hglundahl you dismissed the crucifixion view by gnostics quite nicely there

Hans-Georg Lundahl
@Thesius-q3o Obviously.

St. John was a disciple, Cerinthus wasn't.

First Half of a Pretended Flood Debunk, Debunked · Answering Second Half of Same Video

Noah's Flood: The Science That Doesn't Add Up
Faith In Question | 31 Dec. 2024
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2GfrNczmOw

6:40 Not sure what you said about Mt. Everest, but that's supposing it existed in the pre-Flood world.*

I propose neither Mt. Everest nor the Mariana Trench did.

Less water was needed, since the pre-Flood mountains were less high and when the Flood was over, new depths was where it went, partly, and perhaps at first a glaciation.

7:17 Here** is a response from CMI:

Mountain building occurred as a part of the geologic processes that deepened the oceans to take the waters off the land towards the end of the Flood. Some mountains could have existed before the Flood, but none like the current Himalayas, Alps, or Andes in height. In any case, there is only enough water on all the earth to cover mountains about 3 km (2 miles) high, if all the ocean basins were raised. So, if the waters were not 9 km deep, but much less, the question is no longer an issue.

7:45 4.5 / 1.386 = 3.247 times.

8,848.86 m*** / 3.247 = 2725 [m], so basically 3 km, when the Flood was at its highest, which may be higher than 15 cubits over the pre-Flood highest mountain, since that would have been the height when the Ark took off.

8:27 Two problems with your proposition.°

1) You are pretending the height reached (after 40 days) was the height of Mt. Everest. This is wrong. No creationist would agree to it, especially none within the Creation Science fan base.
2) You are also pretending rain provided more of the water than the fountains of the deep. As if the latter provided basically none of it.

9:20 15 inches per hour. I have a conversion problem. How much is 15 inches in liters per square meter?

Because in one and a half hours, DANA in Spain, Valencia, shed 460 liters per square meter. Wait, I found two conversion things°° on the internet, and it seems it was 12 inches per hour.

Now, take into account:

24 or even 36 inches per hour would be physically possible (twice or three times DANA)
the height to reach would be only 3 km, if as much
the time to reach it would be longer than 40 days if water rose further than 15 cubits above the highest mountain
and the reaching would involve depletion of collapsing subterranean water reserves, which lowered the ground.

I think the problem is answered.

9:38 "millions of species" ... nope, other strawman, you do not need each species of a kind, you only need one species per kind, in order for the kind to survive.

Fish, invertebrates, possibly amphibians too, would not need to be passengers on the Ark. Calculate c. 17 species per kind. Like there are 17 species in 5 genus of hedgehog, and hedgehogs are one kind. All 17 species split from each other after the Flood, from one couple of hedgehogs on the Ark.

I think that problem is solved too. And I think it is clear, you have consistently ignored Creationists giving answers, and then pretended to present unanswered problems.

11:03 The waste problem is answered without shovelling the classical way.

Dung groves, water, rolling of the Ark = daily cleaning, work free or nearly.

11:33 How about some kind of compost?

Here°°° is Sarfati from 1997:

It is doubtful whether the humans had to clean the cages every morning. Possibly they had sloped floors or slatted cages, where the manure could fall away from the animals and be flushed away (plenty of water around!) or destroyed by vermicomposting (composting by worms) which would also provide earthworms as a food source. Very deep bedding can sometimes last for a year without needing a change. Absorbent material (e.g. sawdust, softwood wood shavings and especially peat moss) would reduce the moisture content and hence the odour.

This would keep the overall weight of the arkload relatively constant too.

11:54 If you had read the article, you would have seen the rolling of the Ark as an asset for the ventilation.

As to the waste problem, you arguably always used Water Closets. Have you heard of Dry Closets and composting?

since the Bible was written 13:07 it was really easy to take this at face 13:09 value science had not progressed 13:12 anywhere near far enough to be able to 13:15 really start to refute some of the 13:16 claims that are made in the Bible

There is a commonsense thing which has always stopped people from believing newly invented nonsense stories pretending to be their past.

If this that or sundry is supposed to have happened to me, why don't I recall it?

If this is supposed to have happened to grandpa, why didn't he tell me?

If this is supposed to have happened to grandpa's grandpa, why didn't grandpa tell me he heard it from his grandpa?

This does not need any kind of progress in science.

And your view of people being so easy to bamboozle before the last 200 years of science simply doesn't make sense in psychology, whether you call it a science or not.

13:39 You conveniently have forgotten to mention progress made by creation scientists during the last decade.

While I have certain sympathies for Palestinians about Gaza, I have clearly less such about a certain Muslim tactic of intimidation:

2) Make sure a non-Muslim actual state authority (or state sponsored authority) decreases someone's visibility or even freedom "for his own safety" ...

What Charlie Kirk Gets Wrong About Catholicism
The Counsel of Trent | 8 Jan. 2025
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2LOt7SJaGc

Essential doctrines, proportionate to capacity and needs.

The six necessary truths everyone has to be aware of and believe, if for instance you have fifteen minutes left to live before dying and the priest is priorising what he asks you to believe before giving you the sacraments.

ALL of the Bible, in its Catholic exegesis, in quite a few cases of larger learning and time to learn the faith.

Btw, while Pope Leo X did some reference to "day and hour" when banning preachers from date setting, there is not a dogmatic exegesis forbidding to say "we are in the end times" or "this person could be the Antichrist, and he has the gematria mentioned in Apoc. 13:18" ... Session 11 of Lateran V was disciplinary, and concerned the selection and prescribed behaviour about preaching in Church or on behalf of the Church. I and Catholic Answers both fall outside this disciplinary scope. Just in case someone wanted to bring that "discrepancy" up against me and my claim to be Catholic.

10:22 I think you would agree that if Bergoglio openly denied the Trinity, every Catholic would be free and have the duty to get another Pope, ideally elected by Cardinals, but not the ones named by Bergoglio. If not the cardinals, ideally the bishops but ...

Point being, Charlie Kirk has a point. At certain points, it may be clearer who the Pope is than what the correct reading is. But at some point it is actually clearer what the correct reading is than that someone clearly denying it is Pope.

Bergoglio lost me, and I went to Michael I, now Michael II, over this quoted statement, sorry for not giving the Italian: "God is not a Demiurge with an Omnipotent Magic Wand" ...

I think the Traditional view of Creation, if not necessarily the timeline (though the dispensations to disagree with that one have sounded hollow for a very long time by now) at least the nature of the creative act, is so clearly taught that by that quote, Bergoglio had stamped himself as a non-Catholic.

11:10 Pope Michael I made a point of the Hebrews quote and the Magnesians quote against the SSPX position of "recognise and resist" ...

I think the positions of SSPX and the Cassaciacum Thesis are both out. You have just given the refutation of Bp Fellay, and as to Sedeprivationism, when it says that "Vatican II Popes due to lack of goodwill have not taken up the duties of the office" basically equals saying "someone is not in office, when he's in mortal sin".

Any Sedeprivationist would agree, IF he could bring himself to claim Bergoglio was a heretic, THEN he would be free to hold a conclave or rather emergency election, perhaps in an imperfect ecumenic council. So, he is not arguing total loss of office due to heresy preached, he is arguing loss of acting in office while in mortal sin. Chesterton pointed out that it would be convenient for a driver if when he was checked by a policeman he could claim "oh, you are not living as a Christian, so I don't have to obey you" .... in other words, the Lollard position is absurd, and it's revived by Cassaciacum thesis, inventor, holders, obeyers.

A consistent Catholic position is only possible in three ways:

  • Bergoglio is Pope Francis
  • someone else is Pope (I'd say Michael II over Peter III)
  • someone else will be Pope, when we have made some kind of election.

Now, suppose a Pope were wrongfully elected, 1990 and 2023 or in the future, and it turned out Bergoglio were not heretic, and therefore Pope. We would not be worse off, not by necessity of the case type, than when a Pope Felix stepped back in Rome after Pope Liberius had cleared himself.

11:52 I think you are confusing authority of sacramental office with authority of jurisdiction.

It is at least a position of the Dominicans, that a bishop elect receives jurisdiction immediately on accepting the election, even if not yet ordained priest and consecrated bishop.

With Pope Michael I, he first made sure, honestly or not, we can no longer ask him, that as many as could be relied on to be Catholic and willing to participate elected a man to the jurisdiction of Pope, this was Our Lady of Carmel in 1990. In 2011, he used the jurisdiction to reconcile two up to then Vagante bishops, the main consecrator being Bob Bjarnesen, who had apostolic succession from Duarte Costa who had it from Sebastião da Silveira Cintra, a bishop in Communion with Pius XI in 1924. And Duarte Costa remained in communion with Pius XI, and up to 1950 with Pius XII. Pretending his ordinations and consecrations are invalid would be against the sacramental theology used in assessing that an Orthodox bishop who converts only needs to submit to Rome and get a see or other episcopal office to be a Catholic (usually Eastern Rite) bishop.

Speaking of the Orthodox, Michael II, prior to his election, had been consecrated bishop by Eastern Orthodox, after which he was some time a vagante bishop of Charismatics, after which he was reconciled to Pope Michael I, whom he was, after a year, elected to succeed. Or, rather, somewhat less than a year.

If you have heard that Conclavists have no Apostolic Succession, that's by now Fake News, rooted in reusing very Old News as a debunk, even when these are no longer true any more. In 1995 it was certainly true Pope Michael I didn't have orders. By 2012 it was no longer true. It has never been true for Rogelio Martinez or since 2023 Pope Michael II, since he joined the Conclavist movement. And back in 1998, Pius XIII may have been more mediatised due to being at least a priest, then Michael I, but for holding of jurisdiction, he was 8 years too late.

12:44 What if on that clip, Charlie Kirk was actually obeying his actually sinful pastor?

Some of the things C. S. Lewis got wrong, like he considered a collective fall instead of an individual Adam an option, The Problem of Pain, or he considered perhaps there was some degree of inspiration to non-Christian religions, like Mohammed and Zoroaster, he was simply following a certain Charles Gore. Whom the Anglicans consider as a bishop.

Now, you cannot go from "a pastor has the authority to correct a sinful layman" to "a layman can never correct and dismiss a heretical pastor" ... Pope St. Coelestine I confirmed in 430 that everyone who had rejected the authority of Nestorius from when he rejected the Theotokos, had in fact acted correctly. The first who shouted "that is heresy" was in fact a layman.

At the end of 428, or at latest in the early part of 429, Nestorius preached the first of his famous sermons against the word Theotokos, and detailed his Antiochian doctrine of the Incarnation. The first to raise his voice against it was Eusebius, a layman, afterwards Bishop of Dorylaeum and the accuser of Eutyches. Two priests of the city, Philip and Proclus, who had both been unsuccessful candidates for the patriarchate, preached against Nestorius. Philip, known as Sidetes, from Side, his birthplace, author of a vast and discursive history now lost, accused the patriarch of heresy. Proclus (who was to succeed later in his candidature) preached a flowery, but perfectly orthodox, sermon, yet extant, to which Nestorius replied in an extempore discourse, which we also possess.

13:15 "The Holy Spirit guides the Church"

But not always the man who otherwise would appear to be your pastor.

In Session IV of Trent, exegesis was tied to the sense which the Church "hath held and holds" specifically because of people like Cranmer or to a lesser degree Laurentius Petri Nericius, who could appear as legitimate successors of William Warham and of Gustav Eriksson Trolle, undoubted Catholic archbishops, and who were nevertheless not keeping the faith of their predecessors. It would have been easier for a Swede to know Trolle had held to the sacrifice of the Mass or for an Englishman to know Warham had, than to know the technicalities on why Cranmer and Laurentius were not in fact enjoying jurisdiction as Catholic bishops. By the way, both of them had Catholic consecrators, Cranmer because he started as legitimate bishop and Laurentius because the king forced an old man to lay hands on him, under threat of exile.

Now, you may answer "but this cannot be the case with all the Church" — true — and you may add "and therefore not with a Pope or what you would call an apparent Pope" — does not follow. It is clearly within Church teaching and discipline that an election can be automatically null if the elected man, even to papacy is a heretic, and it is equally within Church teaching that if a Pope could fall into heresy (undecided question), then he would lose papacy.

18:31 In 1992, after my conversion, so it was not part of what I explicitly signed up for, a man you consider as having been pope then denied that the Earth is centre of the universe.

Pope Michael I has had some kind of bad luck with Amazon publishing, when reissuing a booklet by a priest, with imprimatur or imprimi potest, so certainly with nihil obstat, detailing the nine papal condemnations of Heliocentrism (1633 being one of them, it wasn't Papal at the judgement, but became so when Pope Urban VIII demanded its promulgation to Catholic universities around the world).

You just mentioned as grave sin, I would say grave sin against the faith, to go directly against an infallible definition. And by grave sin against the faith, it would if one did so knowingly, be one amounting to heresy. By citing Galileo, Wojtyla showed he was aware of the case. Very hard to say that he didn't confirm the point which a back then layman in 1989 had made about Assisi 1986, that Wojtyla was not a Catholic.

19:32 That quote is excellent stuff, but lacks one thing.

The distinction, made in Trent Session IV, between "what the Church hath held and holdeth" as opposed to a new doctrine (even if it were presented in such a way as to appear to be now held by the Church).

The idea of "his mind and will are apparent" also reduces to hay and stubble the idea of "we cannot really know if John Paul II seriously holds universalism" ... a queezy point for some SSPX priests, as I found out in Berlin. At that time, I thought "universalism" in this context was hyperbole for hyperecumenism, but since then I have heard that "by the incarnation in a certain manner ... united Himself to every human person indissolubly" ... which cannot hold true, since the at least potential union a living person has with Christ (i e he can later receive membership in the body of Christ or he already is united to Christ) utterly ceases when a person is damned.

But SSPX are saying, unlike the Constantinopolitan layman Eusebius, "who are we to judge" ... I think the quote answers their point.

The will and mind of a person who really is Pope can be known, and be compared to other known Catholic doctrine, from the dignity of documents, from consequences (like excommunications on those denying), from frequent returns to the same point, and so on, and therefore, this can also be said of someone who appears to be Pope, apart from certain doctrines he has uttered.

20:52 "the Church does not presume to settle scientific questions"

Laudato si 188?

Not even when the scientific question is also Biblical?

Hmmm, that position is not what the Church hath held, for instance in 1633 and also now holdeth. It's also not the only reading of things in Providentissimus Deus or of Dei Verbum. The one certainly being an Encyclical of a certain Pope, Leo XIII, the other a "dogmatic constitution" of what you claim to be an Ecumenical council, while some of us, including me, and Popes Michael I and II disagree.

22:17 You are comparing apples and oranges.

1) If the Cephas mentioned in Galatians 2 is really Peter the Apostle, he withdrew the scandal by accepting correction of his inferior Paul.
2) The denial was before he assumed papal office, namely that being on Lake Kinnereth when Jesus told Him "feed my sheep" ...
3) Sedevacantist (except Sedeprivationist) and Conclavist proposals are not about Popes giving scandal by sin or by living against known and interiorly adhered to doctrine, for convenience, they are about people showing loss of office or never-real-assumption of office by heresy.

Breaking News: Bishop Strickland Challenges Bishops To Declare Against Francis

21:23 Sorry, what did you just say?

by the 20:58 way I thought I should reiterate this 20:59 because there's so many in my live chat 21:00 right now trying 21:01 to assume that political figures of the 21:04 B of sin um the church has 21:07 condemned Laymen, Bishops and Priests, anybody 21:11 from trying to identify the man of sin 21:13 based on the very simple reason is you 21:15 will be fooled by him when he comes if 21:17 you do 21:18 that don't play that game it's dangerous

I refuse to take "the Church has condemned" from an "everybody knows" or your priest's "I heard this in seminary" ...

A few years ago, perhaps as long as a decade ago, an Orthodox, i e a schismatic, said "we can ony safely identify the Antichrist" (or if it was "the false prophet") "if the Church as a whole does so" ...

No, the identity of the man of sin is not a theological point like fine but important shades of Christology. They are a practical point about the end times. It is also a conundrum, since there are chances a certain entity that rides the beast will be a false version of the Catholic Church. I e, in the end times, if not the Church, at least Catholics de jure belonging to it, will be divided. So, waiting for that ecclesial statement is tantamount to never identifying the Antichrist, and therefore to have no use for the actual directive in Apocalypse 13:18. One which clearly extends the power to do calculation, not to clergy, but to anyone who has understanding.

So, let's hope your priest was not referencing that Eastern Orthodox statement, if it was a tweet from Kirill or whatever it was.

Or you could be referencing a statement in Lateran V, which is disciplinary, and for the reasons stated above cannot be permanent. It was not formulated as a dogma. If it had been Church law already in for instance Patristic times, it would have been condemning a statement of St. Hilary of Poitiers.

So, I'd want to check with you where you have that "tout le monde sait" statement from ...

21:23 bis, it seems my previous comment on the issue disappeared:

by the 20:58 way I thought I should reiterate this 20:59 because there's so many in my live chat 21:00 right now trying 21:01 to assume that political figures of the 21:04 B of sin um the church has 21:07 condemned Laymen, Bishops and Priests, anybody 21:11 from trying to identify the man of sin 21:13 based on the very simple reason is you 21:15 will be fooled by him when he comes if 21:17 you do 21:18 that don't play that game it's dangerous

How does that even make sense?

a) How do you know that the Man of Sin is supposed to be in the future? Unlike the times of Lateran V, we live in a world without Roman Emperor, and the traditional understanding of "ho katekhon" the one withholding, in II Thessalonians 2 is, it's the Roman Emperor;
b) If identifying him correctly involves not being fooled by him, how does this restriction if it were really a ban, let alone a condemnation, in any way, shape or form help? Because i) if the ban is upheld when he comes, it blocks the purpose of identifying him, and ij) if the true Church is supposed to lift the ban, how will you identify the true Church? If Strickland said you could identify an Antichrist or a False Prophet, how would Michael Lofton not disagree? Or if Francis said one could, how could we be sure that you obeyed?
c) If not identifying him wrongly is supposed to help, well, Apocalypse 13:18 gives a criterium not fulfilled by everyone on Earth.

If we take the gematria to be in Latin alphabet and based off ASCII, I have calculated that there are for all combinations of 9 UPPER CASE letters c. 1 chance in 150 to add up to 666. However, the calculation is for ALL nine letter combinations which are pure upper case (a lower case letter has usually 32 more in value). From AAAAAAAAA to ZZZZZZZZZ. However, as the meaningful combinations are a selection, pretty random, from the possible ones, I think that any given person with any given name of 9 letters has no more than c. 1/150 chance to add up to 666.

This means that calculating ASCII combinations is a way of exonerating very many (I've so far exonerated Trump on this account), and for the record, I have a restricted, but more than two items, list of famous people who get 666 in upper case. The first of them to come on world stage was, though not yet with the gematria, Charles III. It also applies to any male heir of his.

A Welshman, as the PoW technically is, is safe. A monarch ruling from Buckingham or Balmoral is only safe if female. He's, in Swedish an "ENGELSMAN" but also a "skotte" ... the late Queen was "en engelska" and "en skotska" which has a different value. This is obviously a question for any male heir of his.

The second was Putin (WLADIMIRA in genitive and accusative, VLADIMIRB as in Vladimir B, Vladimir II, V POUTINE, like "V. POUTINE" but without the dot, also known as point, if he did something pointless in a French speaking country. He's still around. The third was "Pope Benedict" not just "Benediktos" in Greek gematria (500 + 150 + 16!), but also PAPABENTO and BENEDETTO, he's however not around any more. The newer ones after that have been BERGOGLIO, SEBASTIAN (Kurz, Maskenpflicht), who stepped back, and JRBIDENJR (J. R. Biden Jr.), now stepping back soon.

I'm leaving out where the gematrias are only lower case or only 616 or 665. Oh, just in case you wonder -- HGLUNDAHL is 663 and HANSGEORG is 670. I've checked.
